I am sure I see an Aboriginal face. In the middle frame, middle of the frame I see a wide nose... unmistakable...This giant sea a giant's facewash...granite greys, in the sea he plays...where the shadows sway the selkies lay...some fearless photos here wadjalla yok...what were you doing perched on a rock? Were you playing a sea eagle or a seal... Better to perch on a crag from a safe distance from the reach of the swell. I think even the seals would have misgivings on such a day...no place to play...but then what do I know about seals...? Very little if the truth be known... great photos...

Yes I see him too..
Took some new found friends from Sydney on a lightening quick tour - out to see some sights.
Went to the Gap...the spray was reaching the carpark! Needless to say we didn't venture over to the cage :)
This spot just around the corner. Definitely played it safe - we were way up high...out of reach of the giant seas...though the wind was so strong it felt like we could have almost been picked up and carried off!

The zoom lens is a brilliant invention...

I have seen seals swimming quite relaxed amongst the roughest white water, so close to the rocks. Once on a massive easterly swell at Middleton off the point and again in the bay at the Gap, a bit further around from the Natural Bridge. I thought it was a carcasse and was being washed up, then it popped its head up, looked around and took off into the maelstrom again. Unbelieveable little critters.

Yep, like I said, I know little to nothing about seals...but the sight of them in the swells and maelstrom - good word - brings new insights into this otherwise unknown entity... Did you sea the story of Roan Inish? Those Irish seal types seem to live in quiet waters and even the Australian fur seals near Esperance seem to laze on the rocks, but you say you've seen them in the wash near the gap... and, I guess, why not, are these seals brave or just unaware of the risks... I mean what do they teach these seals in seal school? Don't they have any warning signs... :)
