whale dreaming

they are calling
touching the deepness within
beckoning for a return to silence
to still the mind and hear the voice of creation

sacred journey
vision quest
to listen to the knowledge of the ancients
the record keepers
connecting me to the infinite reality of our being
our purpose, our path,
our sacred contracts made in the space before time.

In gratitude...

With your words I am imagining the time before the wining of boat engines, the constant drilling of propellers, and their froth filled churning, i am imagining the time when a herrings tail flick was picked by a passing humpback or sperm - how many nautical miles deep from the coast? Your poem has me thinking of a time when the sea was silent save for the intermittent orchestral choir of singing whales... when the sea was listening to itself singing in all its voices, before propellers...

before propellers...
when man's breath rose and fell
in time with the waves...
his heart drummed
to the rhythm of the land
his voice sang to all creatures,
to the whales...
and they answered
...in the time when he knew that he was one...

maamang, Noongar had songs for them... they had songs, haunting melodic songs for many things... spirit filled songs with magic in them, something that the didgereedoo had never been able to copy or replace

I would love to experience those songs...

I met a woman once who chants to heal the earth...
at our friends place in the bush...
some of us went for a walk with her...
she found the place where she was to sing...
...we found a place to sit some ways away...
beautiful green granite seating but I was deawn to the overhanging branch...perched up high...
the chanting began and me mate Ned goes 'wait til you hear this'...

mind blowing sound energy travelling out in waves...impossible to convey the feelings...the vibrations set up in the body...penentrating every cell...building into a powerful harmonic...loosening the fabric of reality...I drifted off in the sound now ringing in my left ear...

...suddenly whooosh over my head...I could feel the air rush past...back to reality I look to Ned whos directly facing me...
'...did you see that?' he goes
me -'Nah...but I felt it!'

I turn to witness an eagle and his mate hunting a 28 in a tree nearby...he had swooped right over the top of me and now they were right up close...spectacular!

We were pumped and couldn't wait to share what had happened...
chanting lady's partner says 'yeh she always attracts the birds' :)

One of those rare magical moments
