The hills have eyes...

In the words of Liza...'these hills have seen us grow up'.

The hills have eyes, meyowl boolaa yes, watchful. Imagine what years have passed and what stories they would have heard? The passing of the mega fauna, and the company of ancient men and women, their musing when the European were clad in skins following herds of mammoth and now here we are - yes the hills have eyes and have eyes watched those hills - human and animal - and for how many years I wonder?

Yes have pondered theses changes and wondered about the great upheavals that have directed the evolution of life in this land.

As a child I was captivated by the unearthing of fossilised wood on the farm where I grew up - near Lake Toolbrunup. These time capsules tell the story of ancient forests and a world that has long since passed away.

They provide a window into this other world - in stark contrast to the mallee scrub inhabiting the surface in our life time.

I find it sad that man has played a leading role in the extinction of this unique eco system - wholesale levelling of this country to make way for farming...and yet these stone monuments remind me that our mother will bring forth new life and the planet will be renewed - with or without us...

Bring it on I say...the sooner she shakes off the cancer of civilisation the better...we've had ample notice!

I suspect that nothing short of complete annihilation will undo the superiority complex of man.
